The 12th Man in the Library

Elementary Library with Ms. Arika

One of the best things about being a school librarian is the chance to talk and connect with my students.  Two of the most common topics we connect over are books (naturally) and sports (I am a huge sports nerd).  Why not connect the two into one awesome display?  Now is the perfect time, as the hometown Seattle Seahawks are in the playoffs.  Having a display not only looks good, it also gives students independence in locating books.  Our library is now part of the 12th man!  Go Seahawks!

My favorite part of the football display has been listening to the students as they read older Seahawks books and analyze the age of the book based on the uniform and helmet designs.  Impressive critical and creative thinking – I like it!  This sounds like a research opportunity in the future. 🙂
