Teaching in the Elementary Library

Each Tuesday, I read stories in my boy H’s Montessori classroom.  In classic librarian form, I research and choose books I think they’ll like (and that I like, too!).  Here are this week’s choices:

Clumsy Duck by Britta Teckentrup

Clumsy Duck is, well, clumsy.  He trips and slips all over the place.  His friend Chick finds the source of the problem and helps Clumsy Duck find the best use for his overly large feet.  A simple story that helps children understand that problems can be solved (and that large feet can be very useful).   Share with ages 3-5.

Henry and Mudge and the Wild Wind by Cynthia Rylant
