Week 1: The Introduction

If bookworms ruled the world....

It was unfortunate, but last week I had to miss quite a bit of class due to another obligation.  The bulk of what I missed was the reading discussions and the upcoming assignments.  However, I was there for the quick jaunt through school library history.  Basically, what I got from this is that because education and educational theory keep swinging on the same pendulum (the principle of wait long enough and the same things will be popular again), school libraries tend to follow the same trend.

Every time a shift occurs in education, the school librarians surface responsibilities change as well.  Each new educational reform requires something a little different from the educators involved, and one of the big changes that tend to occur is new resources come pouring in.   A good librarian would use this as a chance to strut his/her stuff so to speak and be a…
