The Water Project in Grade 7 Science

Last week, all grade 7 students had a session with the middle school librarian to help them locate the right information for their research in the water project, which is part of the greater City in the Sea unit they are studying this year. One of the discussions centered around whether students should still use print resources and what the difference is between these traditional publications versus websites found through a Google search. The librarian reminded students of the following points in favor of print materials; the non-fiction books the library has on offer are carefully selected for their connectivity with the ISB curriculum; the collection is kept up to date and books are weeded on a regular basis in order to maintain a current collection; the publications themselves have gone through a rigorous publication process in which content and authority are verified not only by the publisher but also…
